Looking for directions

I've started thinking about what I should narrow my research to. As a general rule, I know it will have to do with politics and media, however I am not sure if I am going to be watching the news, or creating some (by making documentaries). I have started building a list of resources (so far a few websites magazines and books) which will help me assess what has already been written, and what still needs to be discussed, developed, elaborated upon, filmed...
